The facts. The number of Asia-Pacific family offices tracked by Preqin has risen more than sevenfold since 2019, lifting the region's share of the global count from 17 per cent to 24 per cent, according to a data drop the BlackRock-owned data provider published in late October using Preqin Pro data as of August 2026. Singapore hosts 6 per cent of the world's family offices, behind only the United States, and together with Hong Kong accounts for nearly half of those in the region; Australia and India follow.

Private credit showed the sharpest change in behaviour. The number of active Asia-Pacific family offices investing in the asset class rose by 47 per cent between 2024 and 2026, the largest increase Preqin recorded across the private markets asset classes it follows. The strategies these offices target run from private equity secondaries and direct lending to real estate debt and core-plus infrastructure.
