The facts. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority said on 2 November 2026 that Ensemble TX, part of its Project Ensemble tokenisation programme, now supports real-value transactions 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which it said opens uses such as moving funds across markets, managing tokenised asset portfolios and treasury management. It has also completed trial trades in which Recognised Dealers bought and sold tokenised Exchange Fund Bills in the secondary market, aimed at secondary and repo trading, and plans to widen the trials to regulated stablecoins.

The announcements, made at Hong Kong FinTech Week, also include Project SAGE (Securing Agentic Finance with Governance and Enablement), supported by a new Agentic Finance Expert Group and a discussion paper on banks' use of agentic AI, and a post-quantum cryptography toolkit for banks built with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

What it means. For treasurers and investors holding tokenised assets in Hong Kong, round-the-clock settlement and dealer trading in tokenised government paper bring those instruments closer to everyday use in repo and liquidity management.
