Banks and institutional platforms are actively elevating their onshore and corridor wealth capabilities by recruiting experienced advisory, market, and distribution leaders. This pattern is visible across multiple institutions rather than concentrated in any single network.

DBS has appointed Catherine Claire Lim as Managing Director and Market Head for North Asia, based in Singapore. Lim joins with approximately 25 years of private banking experience spanning Citi Private Bank, UBS, Standard Chartered and earlier roles at OCBC. The move supports DBS’s expansion of multi-family office and cross-border advisory capacity to serve North Asian capital seeking transparent booking jurisdictions and stable wealth structures.

In the Philippines, China Banking Corporation (Chinabank) has appointed Jonathan T. Cua as Senior Vice President and Head of its Wealth Management Group under the retail banking segment, effective 8 October 2026. Cua brings more than 27 years of international wealth experience, including senior roles at BDO Private Bank, RBS Hong Kong, Santander and Citibank Philippines. Chinabank is integrating institutional-grade wealth solutions more tightly with its nationwide branch network to address growth in the domestic affluent and high-net-worth segments.

Asset managers are similarly drawing senior private banking and wealth talent to accelerate distribution and whole-portfolio platforms. BlackRock has appointed Lina Lim as Head of Commercialisation, Asia Pacific, for Citi Portfolio Solutions Powered by BlackRock (CxB), effective early October 2026. Lim previously led discretionary, funds and ETF solutions at a major global private bank and brings more than three decades of experience across J.P. Morgan and Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management. Based in Hong Kong, she will expand the CxB platform, which combines advisory capabilities with investment management and technology infrastructure and currently oversees approximately USD 80 billion in assets for private banking clients globally.

Allianz Global Investors has appointed Julie Koo as Head of Distribution, Asia Pacific, effective 1 May 2026. Based in Hong Kong and joining the firm’s Executive Committee, Koo reports to AllianzGI CEO Tobias Pross. She moves from Citi Wealth, where she served as Global Head of Partnerships and Relationship Management, and brings over 30 years of institutional and wealth management experience across Asia, Europe and North America, including senior roles at UBS, HSBC and Fidelity. The appointment strengthens AllianzGI’s client engagement and growth strategy across a region where the firm manages USD 134 billion in assets.

These transitions form part of a wider industry pattern. RBC Wealth Management has expanded its senior private banking teams in Hong Kong and Singapore with hires from Standard Chartered, Bank of Singapore, Julius Baer and other platforms. Schroders Wealth Management has appointed Evonne Tan, previously Managing Director and Head of Private Banking at Barclays in Singapore, as Chief Executive Officer of its Asia wealth management business. Lombard Odier, Indosuez and Bank J. Safra Sarasin have similarly reinforced regional coverage through senior market and relationship management appointments. Industry tracking indicates more than 150 senior executive departures across Singapore and Hong Kong private banking since the start of 2026, with many of those professionals moving directly into rival platforms or asset management roles focused on wealth distribution.

The overall dynamic points to a competitive rebalancing of human capital. Regional universal banks with deep local distribution are professionalizing their wealth groups, while global asset managers are securing private banking expertise to scale integrated advisory and managed solutions. Platforms that combine elite relationship depth with modern infrastructure remain best positioned to capture share of expanding Asia-Pacific capital flows into 2027.
